POLITICS: Update: Republicans Pick Their Appointees To Super Committee From House and Senate Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R) appointed Senators Jon Kyl, Rob Portman, and Patrick J. Toomey as the Republican senators to join the Super Committee. Speaker of the House John Boehner (R) appointed Representatives Jeb Hensarling, Dave Camp, and Fred Upton. Representative Paul Ryan (R) asked Boehner to pass him as an appointee. This now leaves three open seats to be picked by House Minority Leader , Nancy Pelosi (D).
